GHER'DET

The Alphabet’s name is a combination of ‘Gher’, the god who created the alphabet, and the word ‘Sopdet’, the Ancient Egyptian word for the constellation of Sirius. It takes inspiration from Thai, Tibetan, Yiddish and Fuþark, and is a pure phonetic alphabet.
It has extremely strict rules to be followed when written and is very difficult to write in its print form properly without the use of lines (a handwriting example can be found at the end of the guide).
All consonants must touch the top and bottom line on a page, and vowels never touch either line.
This alphabet is the property of Our Sanctuary and must not be used outside the context of this group or claimed as your own.

Handwriting

You can be quite fluid with handwriting, adding your own little style. However, there are a small number of rules you have to remember.
-
Vowels must always be smaller than consonants - this includes the letter ‘R’
-
Letters that make up part of a straight line must always have some sort of indicator at the top (see examples below)
-
Y, W & Q always start at a slightly higher point than normal letters e.g. ‘t’ always starts higher than ‘o’ when you’re writing.
'Y' also drops down a little further
Overall you can get much more artistic with this one, for example, look at how many ways you can draw the letter ‘a’ in the Latin Alphabet, all technically correct and recognisable to those trained in the particular style of handwriting.

There are various ways of drawing letters that form part of a straight line.
